A passion for nature the story

The four-star Hotel Biodola's narrative is one mixed with love and passion for nature: that love and passion of the late 1950s that permanently ties the spouses De Ferrari to the bay of Biodola.
In order to preserve the fine features, the exceptional flora, and the deep-sea fauna of this magnificent view of Elba—the only place where the rare plant Biodolo flourishes—the engineer Paolo De Ferrari and his wife, Ileana, decided to acquire all the property surrounding the sandy shore.
It was then planned to create a totally new reality: a hotel that entirely respects the environment.
It was here, near the end of 1973, that the Hotel Biodola was inaugurated.
At first, it served as a simple bed and breakfast. With time, a four-star hotel was erected specializing in high quality service and a cuisine reflecting Tuscan delights and others from the renowned Italian schools of cookery.
At the same time, the hydrogeological realignment of the park was realized.
Later, a private golf course, initially with 6 holes then followed by a regulation-size 9-hole facility, was constructed.
Today, in the hotel's garden, there still blossoms the chaste flowers of the Biodolo carefully taken care of by our staff just as Donna Ileana would have wanted them to be protected.
